Lamination for books, Soft Touch books too

Lamination for books, Soft Touch books too.
Lamination for books, even Soft Touch books, have a cover with printing, a cover wrap, or dust jacket that needs extra protection. Some providers apply a UV coating or a varnish to these surfaces. Star Print Brokers applies a lamination which is far more durable. It is a permanent surface that will not lift up.
None of these surfaces will protect a book from direct sunlight. They do offer some protection from scuffs and wear and tear and are much better than a UV coating or varnish. The cost for gloss and matte is automatically in our quotes. The client need only decide if they prefer matte or gloss lamination. Soft Touch books with lamination is available at an additional cost.
Matte
When designing a cover, a cover wrap, or dust jacket, know that fingerprints may show, even with any varnish or lamination. If there are larger areas where no image or text are apparent, consider using a subtle texture in the design. It makes any fingerprints of scuffs less noticeable.
This lamination provides a softer look with no shine. Matte lamination is what we use for most of our books, but it is really a matter of personal choice. Also, apply a gloss UV coating on large type or an image to give the cover even more visual impact.
Gloss
A high-gloss look is what this lamination provides. It also tends to show more fingerprints. Apply a matte UV coating on large type or image to give the cover an exciting look.
Soft Touch books
This is a relatively new finish. Using Soft Touch books add a little to the cost, but it is a very luxurious look and has wonderful feel, a velvety kind of finish.
If a book is selling online only, the buyer will not be able to see the finish of the lamination. However, if the book is selling in bookstores or in person, Soft Touch lamination for books therefore creates a great first impression.
